Brat Star’s White Claw Taste Test
Fresh off the release of her latest single, the Toronto musician judges flavors of her go-to hard seltzer on vibes alone.
Raised on a steady diet of the Doors’ moody psychedelic rock and Lex Luger’s 808-heavy trap productions, Canadian D.J. and songwriter Brat Star has always gravitated toward contradictions. Her latest single, “White Claw Addict,” from her forthcoming debut album Southern Ontario Gothic, is no exception. Inspired by a faint memory of a hazy golden-hour on a dock where she had her first White Claw in 2022, the song captures what Brat Star describes as “a product that is both crystal clear and impossible to pin down.” Much like her own sound. Below, she reviews her favorite flavors, rating each on aura, relatability, and existential wisdom.
Black Cherry
Many will call Black Cherry an entry-level flavor, but don't be fooled. So much craft goes into making seemingly simple things. My favorite works of art are immediately felt, and endlessly unpacked.
Raspberry
Rasp-berry. I feel that. I’m a card-carrying member of the raspy voice club. The raspy voice card never declines.
Natural Lime
A real one. It may not be the one people reach for first in the cooler, but it’s the one that’s there when you need it most. It’s the crux of the natural cycle, accepting a slow fade into something essential. Like, I let every drop of youth leave my body over time, because I know the beauty is in me. The beauty will live forever through what I create. That’s Natural Lime wisdom.

Strawberry
Strawberry fields forever.
Blackberry
A dope flavor with a bit of a dark undertone. Relatable. I make music because I love to, but also because I have to. Life is hard. The stories I write are there to convince myself to keep going. A blackberry White Claw really gets me like that.
Big Surf: Tropical Punch
Very rare high aura vibes. Makes you feel mad different…both a blessing and a curse, obviously. Hits like a wave. Gotta ride it.
