Alizée Gamberini’s Playlist for Superstars
For March’s Press Play, Takeaway’s monthly music dispatch, the Paris-based creative shares her soundtrack for walking like everyone’s watching.
Raised in the south of France and now based in Paris, Alizée Gamberini may be a self-described non-dancer, but her taste says otherwise. Whether she’s in front of the camera or behind it, the aesthetic obsessive spends most of her time chasing the next visual idea. Below, she talks the songs scoring her life right now—from Fleetwood Mac and Radiohead to Fakemink.
What music video raised you?
I can’t really think of one specifically; there are so many. But I remember being really impressed by the vulnerability and violence of Britney Spears’ “Everytime” music video when I saw it at 8. Oops!… I Did It Again was also the first album my mother ever bought me.
Where do you dance?
I am boring, I don’t do clubs. I don’t really dance.
What’s an album you will never stop listening to?
Il Mare Calmo Della Sera by Andrea Bocelli. I mean the reason is very simple. Just listen to this genius masterpiece, and you’ll feel the “why” in your heart.
What was the first concert you went to?
As a teen, I saw the Brian Jonestown Massacre and BB Brunes. Two completely different universes. That contrast fascinated me. It was amazing to experience that freedom and discover live music on my own.
Which song instantly puts you in a good mood?
“Passionfruit” by Drake.
What was your last online purchase?
These Louboutins.
What are you obsessed with right now?
My new nose.
